3. Napoli 2-4 Manchester City

The fixture of Napoli and Manchester City was perhaps one of the most anticipated during the Champions League group stage. Both teams have been playing a style of football which is amazing to watch.

Napoli and Manchester City lead their respective leagues currently. Although Manchester City’s gap is more impressive, getting the better of Juventus isn’t easy in Serie A. In this match, and indeed the reverse fixture, Manchester City got the better of the Light Blues.

Lorenzo Insigne, a key figure in Napoli’s setup, opened the scoring early on. The lead was soon banished, as Manchester City punished Napoli’s reluctance, courtesy of goals from centre backs Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones.

It was always going to be a tough fixture for the Citizens, and Jorginho proved that as he slotted away a penalty in the second half.

However, there was a certain individual looming on breaking City’s record goal tally. Who else but Sergio Aguero to slot home and become City’s all-time top goalscorer?

At 3-2, the game is still open to anyone. However, despite being the away side, Manchester City weren’t going to settle for this. Raheem Sterling, one of Pep Guardiola’s stand out players this season, slotted home to secure the three points for City in the dying embers of the match.

The Champions League is a trophy which has eluded Manchester City, but under Pep Guardiola, they have every right to push forward and challenge the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

In your opinion, was this one of Manchester City’s best games this season?
