1. Manchester City 5-0 Liverpool

Another high-scoring fixture, but this one tops our list of Manchester City’s best games this season.

Liverpool have an incredible big-game record, which would have swayed many in the direction of the Merseyside club. However, being the home club, City stuck true to their guns. Putting five past Liverpool is never an easy task, although they were helped by a sending off.

Back in September, when Manchester United were leading the table, Manchester City annihilated Jurgen Klopp’s men. Both teams were among the favourites to lift the Premier League title this season, but Manchester City proved they were unmatched early on in the campaign.

Sergio Aguero, a persistent guest to this list of Manchester City’s best games, opened the scoring for his side, as he so often does.

The pivotal moment of the match came in between Aguero’s goal and the end of the first half. Sadio Mane and Ederson were involved in a dangerous collision. Both chasing the same ball, Mane was so determined to reach it, that he ended up with his studs in the goalkeeper’s face.

Jon Moss had no other option but to send the Senegalese international off, as City’s shot-stopper was sidelined for the rest of the match. Thankfully for Pep Guardiola, his absence was cut short as he made a speedy recovery, and has now led his side to many victories.

After the reckless incident, everything was smooth-flowing for the home side. It was indicated when Gabriel Jesus doubled the lead right before half time.

Coming into the second half, Manchester City clearly had the upper hand. Just eight minutes after the whistle was blown, Gabriel Jesus got his second of the game and City’s third, a delight for Pep Guardiola.

Would it really be the top of Manchester City’s best games if Leroy Sane didn’t play his part? The German international has been a revelation, and he proved it by scoring a quick brace, two fantastically-worked goals.
