Erik Lamela-6.5

Judging by my social media feeds, I’m the last Tottenham fan on Earth who still believes in Erik Lamela or sees positives in his game. He wasn’t great against Bournemouth, but he clearly gives Tottenham something positive when he’s out on the pitch.

Mainly he adds a real tempo to the Spurs attack. He’s constantly moving the ball around the pitch with his one touch passes. Combine that with his ceaseless running and you have a very useful player. His game may lack the grace and beauty Spurs fans expected when he was brought in to replace Gareth Bale, but it doesn’t mean he doesn’t help his team.

Kieran Trippier-6

Trippier’s short time on the pitch was a beautiful microcosm of the positive and negatives he brings to the pitch. On one hand, he was forced to absolutely body block a Bournemouth attacker to prevent a break. On the other, he put in a dangerous cross that somewhat fortunately led to Aurier’s goal.

We have to accept Tripper for what he is. He’s an adequate fullback against mid-lower Premier League opposition. He did a job for Spurs in this match, but expecting more out of him is very dangerous.

Moussa Sissoko-6

Sissoko is the only player who gets more social media stick than Lamela. Fortunately, he wasn’t on the pitch long enough to really get the Spurs fan base going in this one. Credit him for coming in to help settle the match down.
