Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela were brilliant for Tottenham

Tottenham headed to Swansea yesterday without three of their most talented players in the starting XI. It didn’t matter. Mauricio Pochettino selected the perfect starting XI to play the Swans right off the pitch.

Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela were particularly brilliant on the afternoon. They ran the show for the Spurs midfield and didn’t give Swansea’s defense a moment to breathe. Each midfielder managed to score a class goal with their “weaker foot.” It’s almost as if they felt the need to add their own difficulty to the match in absence of any resistance from Swansea.

Pochettino’s defense also deserves a special mention. They weren’t troubled often by the Swans’ attack, but they help up their end of the bargain. Other than a sudden strike from Swansea to open the second half, things were all quiet in front of the Tottenham goal.

As you might expect, the player ratings for Pochettino’s group are pretty good. Read on to discover who played the best football to propel Spurs into the FA Cup semi finals.
