Mohamed Salah: The story of football’s latest superstar
Fiorentina and Roma
Speaking recently of his situation at Chelsea, Salah said this:
"“Three years ago I didn’t play much, but since day one back in England (with Liverpool) I wanted to show what I can do. I think I’m doing well.” (via: Liverpool Echo)"
He made his name in Europe with Basel. Then established himself as in-demand in Italy. Salah took the number 74 during his loan to Fiorentina. This was to honour the 74 people who lost their lives in the Port Said Stadium riot in Egypt.

Scoring against Inter Milan and Juventus raised his profile once more. Netting 6 goals in 16 games ensured that Viola (Purples) wanted to retain the Egyptian’s services. Yet he chose to move south to Rome. Another loan from Chelsea was the deal in 2015.His 19 goals for Roma were sublime.
In December, Roma’s ultimate legend, Francesco Totti, bestowed praise on the 25-year-old:
"“I consider him one of the best players around” (via: The National)"
According to their sporting director, selling Salah for around £45 million (including bonuses) enabled them to make “other moves”. It is easy to see why the Reds wanted to capture Salah’s signature, especially so relatively inexpensively.
Prior to Neymar and Kylian Mbappe’s moves inflated the transfer market, Roma had already made a now cheap looking sale. Their supporters questioned how their club could, one: sell a great player. And two: sell him so cheap.
