The International Trivela: Portugal vs Belgium (March 24, 2007)

Quaresma’s favorite trivela comes against Belgium in a Euro 2008 qualifier. He said so himself in a UEFA Training Ground video where he explains his affinity for the trivela. He also says, “I will never miss out on the chance to use the trivela in a match situation.”

It’s easy to understand why this trivela is one of his favorites. Firstly, scoring for one’s national team is always special. Watching the goal, it becomes even clearer why this trivela is his favorite.

He receives a pass from Ronaldo on the right and his first touch is the Ronaldo-chop. His second touch is a trivela that sails into the back of the net with the goalkeeper frozen in place without a hope of saving the shot.
