O Clássico Trivela: Benfica vs Porto (December 12, 2007)

The O Clássico is the derby between clubs from Portugal’s two largest cities. A decades old rivalry, the matches between Benfica and Porto have cultural and political implications apart from soccer.

In the O Clássico in the 2007/08 season, Quaresma and his trivela goal turned the tide of the title race in Porto’s favor in 0-1 victory. After the victory over Benfica on Matchday 12, Porto never looked back and took their third consecutive Liga Nos title, despite a points deduction due to a match-fixing scandal.
