The Return of the Trivela: Porto vs Paços de Ferreira (February 1, 2015)

Failing to settle at Besiktas due to an argument with Besiktas’ manager at the time, Carlos Carvalhal, Quaresma was suspended by Besiktas and subsequently spent a half-season at Al-Ahli in the United Arab Emirates.

He quickly returned to Porto where he was comfortable and appreciated in the 2014 winter transfer window.

A Quaresma return isn’t official until he scores a trademark goal. It was a year after his return to Porto against Paços Ferreira when he would score a trivela again. A contender for his best trivela, as the ball hits the underside of the bar on its way into the back of the net.

The joy of a trivela is the reaction it elicits from teammates, opposition players, and supporters; teammates celebrate jubilantly like Oliver Torres does for this goal, bemused opposition players can only admire the skill and supporters gawk in amazement.
