Arsenal came up against Southampton in what was always bound to be a cagey affair. This time round, Arsenal got the better of the Saints, but only just.

Arsenal just edged Southampton in the end, in a game which finished Arsenal 3-2 Southampton. There were many standout performers for the Gunners, so with that said, here are my Arsenal player ratings vs Southampton.

The game was dominated by neither side, as both teams had their fair share of assertiveness. Towards the start, the Saints had the edge, and it looked like it was going to be another one of those days for Arsenal.

However, after Shane Long’s opener, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pulled one back before Danny Welbeck gave Arsenal the lead. Of course, Charlie Austin was quick to be stripped and ready for action. He continued his impressive 100% record against Arsenal, scoring one of the easiest goals he will ever score.

Danny Welbeck looked keen to add to his tally, but he missed an open goal initially. Just several moments after, he had a similar chance, and he didn’t let this one go to waste.
