Another name has joined the list of possible Wenger replacements

Arsene Wenger has been the Arsenal manager for 22 years. His reign has been historic and included some of the greatest names to ever grace a football pitch. It seems, however, that his time is coming to an end. Now, Arsenal have the enormous task of replacing the legendary French manager.

There have been many names thrown around the world of social media as potential replacements for Wenger, and the most recent name is OGC Nice manager Lucien Favre. Having already coached in Switzerland and the Bundesliga, Favre has made a big name for himself in recent years. He worked miracles at Monchengladbach, leading them back to the Champions League and restoring the clubs form.

Since taking over, Favre has taken Nice to a third place finish and a Round of 32 appearance in the Europa League. His tactics have brought the best out in players like Balotelli, Plea and Sari. A handful of his players have even been linked to big European clubs, proving just how good of a coach he can be.

Favre has favored the 433 with Nice, relying on the midfield to feed the pacey wide players going forward. This system would work well at Arsenal, as Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan have plenty of pace and can be played alongside Lacazette in the middle. With a wealth of options in the midfield as well, Favre would have a multitude of options for his starting XI.

Replacing Wenger will never be easy, but the club and fans know that his time is coming to an end. No team wants to go through the hardships that Manchester United went through after sacking Sir Alex Ferguson, so Arsenal will hope for a smooth transition into new management. Favre would be bringing a different style of play to the team, but that is something all new coaches do.

This could be just the leader many Arsenal supporters are looking for. An attack minded manager that trusts his midfielders and can take risks when necessary. Saying goodbye to a legend like Arsene Wenger will never be easy, but bringing in a man of Favre’s quality would make the decision a bit easier to handle.
