Marseille vs RB Salzburg

I told you RB Salzburg would win. Coming off a thrilling 4-1 victory against Lazio in the quarters in which they scored 3 goals in 4 minutes to advance, Salzburg will look to continue their Cinderella run into the finals.

However, standing in their way is a strong Marseille side who is also coming off a thrilling victory of their own, winning 5-2 over RB Leipzig at the Velodrome.

Dimitri Payet and Florian Thauvin have been instrumental for the French side in their Europa League campaign, and they’ll be keen to keep their attacking form going against a team that they’ve already struggled against in the Europa League this season.

Salzburg and Marseille were drawn into the same group, and Marseille wasn’t able to beat Salzburg in either of their group stage matches – in fact, Marseille didn’t even manage to score a goal.

This no doubt left a sour taste in their mouths, and they’ll be looking to get revenge on their Austrian opponents.

Marseille is taking this competition much more seriously than they did back in September, and it’s shown, as they’ve scored 10 goals in their previous 4 Europa League matches.

Salzburg’s defense will have their work cut out for them, but if they can do some damage control against Marseille’s dangerous front four, then they certainly have a chance – however, I just see Marseille being too much for the Austrians in the end.

Marseille will make it 2 for 2 against the Red Bull company in the Europa League, and advance to their third-ever Europa League final.

Don’t sleep on this tie though – it’s going to be an exciting one.

Prediction: Marseille 5-3 RB Salzburg
