Granit Xhaka – 6.5/10

He captained the side today, but not to the best of his ability. He had a good moment, which led to Arsenal’s goal and he also sprayed a number of his trademark balls. However, it was his sloppiness in the first half which ruined his rating for me.

Alex Iwobi – 6.5/10

I’ll say it, Iwobi didn’t play too badly today. Wow, I’ve been wanting to say that for a long time. There were still signs of frailty to his play, but playing with a number of his fellow youngsters certainly helped him.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles – 8/10

It was a man of the match display from Ainsley Maitland-Niles. The young Englishman bossed the middle of the park, and his driving runs forward were promising. He is certainly beginning to develop into a mature player.

He is renowned for his composure and confidence, which were both on full display today. It’s a shame that a late goal has taken away from his stellar performance.
