However, he has rejected a new deal with Spurs and is set to be sold in the summer. With Manchester United looking to shore up their defense, they should look no further than the 29-year-old.
Alderweireld has already proven himself in the Premier League and would be well suited to United. The former Ajax player is set to be available for 40 million euros. But certain clauses could see Alderweireld cost his suitors as little as 25 million pounds. And he will bring both steel and experience to United’s back line, which has been a bit shaky this season at times.
Several clubs including Chelsea and PSG are also interested in Alderweireld. So concluding a deal for him could prove to be tricky for United. Samuel Umtiti and Sevilla’s Clément Lenglet are also reported targets. While Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo could be in the firing line if Mourinho decides to bring in a new centre back.
