Fred
The Brazilian midfielder has become a hot commodity after superb performances for Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk this season. Fred helped his side qualify for the round of 16 ahead of Napoli, and they also beat Manchester City in the process.
Still only 25, Fred is set to reach his prime soon. Both Manchester United and City are interested in signing him, with United said to be leading the chase. With Michael Carrick set to retire at the end of the season and Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera facing uncertain futures, United could look to bring in two midfielders.
And Fred’s qualities would make him perfectly suited to the Red Devils. The box to box midfielder has earned comparisons to Manchester City’s Fernandinho. Fred is aggressive, tenacious and loves to go forward with the ball. He is also highly regarded for his playmaking abilities. Fred has scored four goals and has six assists for Shakhtar this season. He is likely to be available for upwards of 30 million pounds. With Mourinho more intent on using a three-man midfield now, Fred could slot into a free role, alongside Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba.
