Massimiliano Allegri is the perfect candidate to replace Arsene Wenger, here’s why.

Playing in Serie A, Juventus has really asserted their dominance to Italian football. Only recently has a side come close to overtaking the Old Lady, but they still sit six points ahead of Napoli currently. Massimiliano Allegri has played a huge part in this.

It’s not just domestically in which Allegri has improved Juventus, but also on the European stage. Last season he reached the final of the Champions League, although the side lost to Real Madrid. But what is the key to Allegri’s success?

To be frank with you, there is no distinct key, and that in itself is the key – let me explain. Massimiliano Allegri has no form of iconography in the way he sets up his side, he simply analyses his opposition and decides from there which is the best route to take.

This means, when playing against attacking sides, he isn’t the most entertaining manager of all time. This is fine, of course it is, it’s worked for him so far hasn’t it?

In order to win titles, sometimes a manager needs to sacrifice exciting football. To consistently annoy and break down league rivals, Allegri needs to be smart in the way he sets up, and that’s exactly what he does.

Arsenal need this more than anyone. On their day, they can play some of the most beautiful football in the world, but when it’s not their day is where the problem lies. There seems to be no plan b with Arsenal, let alone a plan c or plan d.

They need a manager who is willing to drill the players into getting behind the ball and diving into challenges. They need to start being more ruthless and not always looking to excite the crowd.

Only once in recent history has beautiful football prevailed in England, and that’s Manchester City this season. Truth is, the Premier League isn’t always the place for passing movements, unless done properly.

This is why I think Massimiliano Allegri will be perfect for Arsenal, should he join. Sky Sports have reported that he is on Arsenal’s radar, but will he join?
