4. Davinson Sanchez can run

There aren’t many faster centre backs in the English Premier League than Spurs defender Davinson Sanchez. The Colombian needs to learn how to read the game better, but he doesn’t lose many foot races.

That will come in handy against Newcastle’s projected starting attack of Ayoze Perez and Dwight Gayle. Both men use their speed to try to get in behind defenders at every opportunity. Sanchez won’t allow them that privilege in this fixture.

Expect to see Sanchez pay particularly close attention to Perez. He’s given Tottenham real difficulty in the past. If he can keep him under wraps, Jan Vertonghen should be able to handle Gayle comfortably.

There’s always the chance for Spurs to concede a scruffy set piece goal, but Sanchez’s speed should keep them pretty safe during the run of play. His pace should help Spurs keep Newcastle off the score sheet.
