Arsenal have failed to pick up a single away point in 2018, this is their last opportunity to under Arsene Wenger.
It’s been a season of highs and lows for Arsenal, although it’s mainly been lows. The season comes to an end this afternoon, and after failing to secure a single away point this calendar year, it’s vital they do so today.
Although it doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things, Arsene Wenger doesn’t deserve to be looked at as the manager who failed away from home. The news couldn’t have come at a better time for the Arsenal faithful, as they needed a boost heading into the Atletico Madrid tie.
It wasn’t to be for the Gunners, though. After a strong performance, the away goal meant they needed to chase a goal in Madrid, which was always going to benefit the Spanish side. Of all people, Diego Costa got the goal which sent Arsenal flying out of the competition.
Now, they face Huddersfield, who are safe from relegation but only just. The tie is meaningless for both sides, but that doesn’t mean they won’t battle for pride. It’s important to end your season on a high, but it will be more sentimental for Arsenal given the circumstances. It’s not going to magically make their season a successful one, but it will put a smile on the supporter’s faces at least.
Arsenal must head into the game in the same way they did against Burnley. Against Burnley, the Gunners attacked relentlessly, and it shown in the scoreline. They won 5-0 on the day, courtesy of some terrific goals.
Intricate passing movements in the final third will perfectly depict Arsene Wenger’s time at Arsenal, and it will be hard for the Terriers to defend against.
What do you think the scoreline will be?
