Tottenham exploded for five goals against Leicester.

Tottenham didn’t play their best game to knock off Leicester City, but they did manage to beat the Foxes at their own game. Mauricio Pochettino’s squad managed to outscore Claude Puel’s troops despite being forced to go with a makeshift lineup due to injury.

Spurs originally announced Jan Vertonghen as a starter at centre back, but he didn’t feel well enough to go during warm ups. That led Pochettino to shit Eric Dier back into the back four. The Englishman partnered with Toby Alderweireld to start the match as Spurs’ central defensive pairing.

As we discussed yesterday, Pochettino also had to juggle his defensive midfield significantly. It’s safe to say that Moussa Sissoko and Victor Wanyama aren’t Tottenham’s first choice pairing in the double-pivot. Leicester City exploited Spurs’ midfield on several occasions. Saying it was a wide open affair would be an understatement.

In the end, Tottenham’s makeshift squad did just enough to earn Spurs a third place finish in the final Premier League standings. Any Spurs fan who wouldn’t have taken that in a season where the club were forced to play at a Wembley is a fool. Read on to discover which players helped Tottenham finish off the season in style.
