Eric Dier-6

The Englishman was shifted into central defense at the last minute by Pochettino. Unfortunately, for most of the afternoon his play reflected that uncertainty.

Dier may not have been the defender most responsible for any one Leicester City goal, but he didn’t do nearly enough to stop the Foxes. Riyad Mahrez, in particular, made him look clumsy on several occasions. It was a very average match to conclude a very average season for the English international.

Toby Alderweireld-6.5

If Alderweireld intended this match to be a showcase for big clubs interested in purchasing him this summer, he failed to do himself any favours. HIs timid defending gave Leicester’s attack entirely too many shots against the Spurs goal.

The only reason his performance is slightly better than Dier’s is the fact that his passing from the back was an asset for Spurs. Specifically, his long diagonals set Danny Rose and Kyle Walker-Peters free on several occasions. Those were the bright spots in a very mediocre performance from Alderweireld.
