Erik Lamela-8

The second half was not a pleasant time for the Lamela haters that populate Tottenham’s social media following. The talented Argentine exploded for a brace that allowed Spurs to get back into the match.

In fairness, Lamela wasn’t very good in the opening 45 minutes. He floated through the first half and deserved the criticism he drew at the break. He still finished the match with two crucial goals by getting himself in scoring positions over and over again. Some fans will hate to admit it, but Tottenham would not have finished third without Lamela’s performance in this match.

Christian Eriksen-7

This was a weird match for the talented Dane. Tottenham managed to score five goals without Eriksen notching a goal or assist. Still, his work rate in the middle was pretty good and he helped keep the Spurs attack ticking.

In particular, Eriksen was pretty combative in the middle of the pitch by his standards. He isn’t ever going to be a physical powerhouse, but he won a couple of 50/50 challenges that really helped Tottenham grab some momentum in this match. Eriksen will have better days, but this was a sneaky good outing for the Danish maestro.

Lucas Moura-6.5

The speedy Brazilian was a bit unlucky not to get more out of this match. In the end, he did notch a crucial assist for Spurs, but his runs could have easily created more.

More importantly, Lucas showed real signs of becoming a competent two-way player for Pochettino. On several occasions he ran back and pestered Leicester’s attack in an effort to win the ball back. That, more than any of today’s attacking moves, will move Lucas up in Pochettino’s eyes.
