Out with the old, in with the new

Alexis Sanchez had three great seasons for Arsenal and was one of Arsene Wenger’s best ever signings. Unfortunately he became a divisive force in the Gunner’s dressing room and refused to sign a new contract.

In retrospect, Arsenal should have sold the Chilean last summer when Manchester City and several other clubs were making big offers. Instead, they kept Sanchez and he continued to make it clear he wanted to leave the club.

He got his wish in January when he joined Manchester United. In return, Arsenal received midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Gunners also made a splash in the same transfer window with the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Their names may be hard to spell but in Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan Arsenal picked up two important players. Along with French striker Alexandre Lacazette, they have given fans a glimpse of the future moving forward.
