Manchester United must become more consistent

The Red Devils ended the season nineteen points behind their rivals Manchester City. United dropped points against the likes of West Brom, Stoke City, Southampton, Huddersfield, Brighton and Newcastle United. Those dropped points cost United heavily in their title challenge, which ended with a whimper.

More from Manchester United

United’s lack of consistency came back to haunt them last season, as they finished sixth. While things were a bit better this time around, the lack of consistently good performances cost them once again.

Jose Mourinho’s team often looked complacent and overconfident on the pitch, especially against teams below them in the league table. The likes of Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford were the biggest culprits.

This mentality cannot be afforded next season. United must be on their game, no matter who they are playing. Titles cannot be won just by defeating your nearest rivals. And United must understand that, and show up whether they are facing Manchester City or Cardiff City next season.

As mentioned earlier, United must win the title next season. To do that, they must add that consistency, passion and desire to their game. Otherwise they may have to settle for second place next season as well.
