Antonio Conte feels Chelsea need to improve if they are to compete in the Premier League next year.

Chelsea lifted the FA Cup at the weekend, with Antonio Conte still at the helm. He still feels like his position as manager is in danger, despite the FA Cup final win over Manchester United. It was reported earlier in the season that the Italian had a major fall out with the board, which would have made the decision to fire him much easier.

Chelsea are on the lookout for a new boss, with Maurizio Sarri looking the favorite suitor currently. The general consensus is that the players will feel much better under new guidance. Antonio Conte is known to be a pushy character, but then again, so is Sarri.

The Telegraph report that Conte is taking his current position very seriously, with eyes on improving the squad. Even if he doesn’t land his position heading into next season, the Italian had strong words to say about some of the Chelsea players.

"“Maybe we missed the Champions League this season because we tried to play very open and in this moment you can’t do this especially with a strong team because to concede three goals in seven games it means you don’t have stability. A great team doesn’t concede three goals or four goals against Watford.” – Antonio Conte"

This is certainly a warning sign for whoever takes over from Conte, if anybody does. There is a lack of belief in this Chelsea side, although winning the FA Cup will give the stars plenty of promise heading into next season.

It’s been a season of highs and lows for Conte, but mainly it has been full of lows. It’s always nice to cap a season off with silverware, especially given the fact it may have been the Italian’s final game with the London club.

There are plenty of clubs who are on the lookout for new managers, so one would imagine Conte won’t be waiting too long for an opening.

His first season with Chelsea was very impressive. He came to England and revolutionized the way teams play, bringing in his three at the back system which was widely adopted by Premier League rivals.

His second season has been his fatal flaw, though, and certainly enough reason for the Chelsea hierarchy to look at candidates to replace him. No matter what happens, the Italian can be proud of lifting the FA Cup this season, and the Premier League last season.
