3. Liverpool still have frailties

Many believed that this year marked the rebirth of Liverpool football club, but yet again it wasn’t to be. It seems to be the same tale each season – they come so close, but then they fall so far from the target.

This year, the target was definitely winning the Champions League. As optimistic as that may sound, it certainly wouldn’t be as optimistic as lifting the Premier League title.

The European stage is always Liverpool’s for the taking, as they shown in their impressive run to the final. It’s a competition which has never eluded them, but last night they looked like mere spectators.

The defense was pretty well-disciplined, with the full backs standing out above the rest. They were let down by the goalkeeper, which is a position Liverpool are looking to strengthen in the summer,

There is talks of Roma’s Alisson, which only seems more desirable after last night’s display. Karius is by no means a bad goalkeeper, but he’ll seem like a distant enemy to Liverpool fans after that performance.

The frailties need to be fixed if Liverpool is to be considered a serious club again. They have the backing of the fans, an exciting manager and a promising, youthful squad. I’m no expert, but it seems to be a personnel flaw, and it needs seeing to immediately.
