Zinedine Zidane has announced his departure from Real Madrid.

The French manager spent over two seasons in the Spanish capital, and his time has been successful. Just recently, he lifted his third Champions League title with Real Madrid.

He was beginning to make his mark on being one of the best European managers in recent history, and who knows? He may even continue his legacy on his next endeavor.

Obviously, this has resulted in many discussing who will take over from Zidane at Real Madrid. There are calls for Arsene Wenger to take the throne, after recently announcing his departure from Arsenal.

Wenger served the North London club well, and his time at Arsenal would suggest he’s not the right man to take on Real Madrid.

Don’t get me wrong, he would succeed at such a big club. With the right players and financial backing, he could even go on to beat Zidane’s short-lived legacy, but his mentality doesn’t tie in with the vacancy.

Wenger enjoys a challenge, he always done and always will do. He reportedly turned down offers from Real Madrid for this exact reason in the past.

Managing Real Madrid isn’t a challenge by any means, as they have asserted their dominance at the highest level.

While it would be good to see Wenger lifting a European honor, especially after missing out against Atletico Madrid this season, it doesn’t seem likely.

There are plenty of other options available to Florentino Perez and co. Some of these include Antonio Conte, Maurizio Sarri, and even the odd controversial suitor like Maurcio Pochettino and Luis Enrique.

Arsene Wenger has never been one to rush into signing anything, so it’s hard to imagine him jumping at the sight of Zidane’s departure.

As an Arsenal fan myself, I would love to see Wenger taking on the European super clubs, it’s definitely what he deserves. He would receive all the backing to achieve success, but it wouldn’t be right for him. Who do you think will be the man to take over from Zinedine Zidane?
