Left winger: Eden Hazard: 7.5/10

As you would expect, Belgium’s talisman. Captained for this match, Hazard was the luminary in an otherwise pedestrian side. Made an electric start and might have grabbed a goal or an assist on another day.

A few delightful touches and searing runs indicated what a player he is. An exciting prospect for the World Cup.

Right winger: Dries Mertens: 6.5/10

Almost helped guide Napoli to a first Serie A title since 1990. That heartbreak will still linger for Mertens, but he didn’t let it affect him here. Useful rather than remarkable, got some good crosses in although it was often a Portuguese defender on the end of them.

Striker: Romelu Lukaku: 6/10

Frustrating evening for Lukaku, like many. Some helpful hold up play in places. Chances came few and far between, early header into gloves of Beto as close as Lukaku came.
