Danny Welbeck – 7.5/10

Only came on for half an hour, but still managed to chalk up a goal. England’s top scorer in this fresh-looking squad.

Combined with fellow sub Dele Alli for the goal and it was an apt way to finish off a comfortable game.

Dele Alli – 7/10

Provided Welbeck with the assist late on. With Jordan Henderson and Eric Dier the anchoring midfielders available, Alli is required for the crucial creativity.

England will need that in abundance, with Panama and Tunisia expected to sit back and defend, using a compact structure.

Kieran Trippier – 6/10

Curled a free kick wide and put a couple of decent crosses in after he came on.

A useful player and a potential outlet in Russia.

Nick Pope – 6/10

More about the novelty or earning his first cap, and international experience, than anything.

Didn’t have a save to make.

Gary Cahill – 6/10

Scored against Nigeria, which pressed his claim to be in the lineup in just over a week.

Had half an hour here, mostly sat back as England saw out the victory.

Jesse Lingard – Came on too late to rate
