Rankings: The best 10 players to watch at the World Cup
By Kian Long
3. Neymar
Commonly dubbed as the third best player in the world, and the next in line to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s throne, Neymar is set for an exciting World Cup with Brazil.
They suffered an upsetting defeat in the last competition on home soil, but they are back with a fresh squad this time round. Neymar was the star of the show last time out, and he’s hoping an injury won’t rule him out again.
It looked the case, but he made it back just in time for the competition. In a preview friendly, he reminded Seleção exactly what he can bring to the table.
A terrific solo goal, reminiscent of the Neymar we know and love, was just what he needed to get himself in the World Cup mood.
He is expected to avenge the injury which kept him out of the World Cup closing stages in 2014. With a move to Real Madrid still on the horizon, he may have the extra encouragement to do well at this tournament.
He is expected to use his flair on the ball to get the better of opponents, while linking up with the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Philippe Coutinho.
