Tottenham Hotspur may be prepared to execute a very rare triple swoop at one club during this season’s summer transfer window.

Prying away one talented player from a club is difficult enough. Tottenham may be attempting to take away three of Sporting CP’s stars this summer. That challenge, of course, is being made possible by all the unrest at the Portuguese club.

All of the unrest and violence perpetrated by Sporting fans over the last several weeks has the majority of the club’s players doing everything they can to get out-of-town. As you might imagine, that’s caused a lot of transfer interest around the globe. Tottenham, in particular, have interest in a number of players formerly on the Sporting squad.

While the competition will be fierce, it’s easy to see Spurs trying to get involved in the fray. Specifically, Tottenham should be eyeing Gelson Martins, Bruno Fernandes and William Carvalho. Each member of trio could provide Mauricio Pochettino’s squad an immediate boost next season.

Martins might be the most exciting of the bunch. He’s a pacy wide man who can take defenders on with the dribble and make them look rather silly. He provided his club a solid return of eight assists and eight goals last year. It’s easy to see how he could help give the Spurs attack some much-needed with next season.

The jewel of the group still might be Bruno Fernandes. Tottenham was linked with the talented midfielder even before things went haywire at Sporting. The 23-year-old Portuguese international is just the sort of two-way midfielder that Pochettino covets. He can both score goals and put in quality challenges. There’s no doubt Tottenham will sound out his interest in making a move to North London.

Finally, Spurs may also take a look at Carvalho as a potential replacement for Mousa Dembele in the defensive midfield. Like Dembele, he isn’t much of a threat going forward, but he does have the physical size and stature required to break up play in the Premier League. Pochettino might want a more dynamic midfielder, but acquiring Carvalho could still make sense if the price is right.

Things are likely going to be more and more complicated at Sporting over the next several weeks. Don’t expect a swift transfer resolution regarding any of these players. Even so, it’s a situation that Tottenham will continue to monitor with great interest as time goes on.
