Defence
Kyle Walker: 7
Usually Walker does a job wherever he finds himself selected. Lovely and neat passes out from the back without a sign of pressure. Often producing great interplay and overlaps with Trippier.
Gave away a ‘soft’ penalty with a dubious seeming elbow. A moment of madness in a cross easy to deal with. This detailed England’s momentum. Performed fine post that major incident. Attempting to get forward when England needed a goal.
John Stones: 7.5
stones made good but slightly nervy interceptions and clearances early on. A phenomenal header from the Sky Blue forced a goal for Kane, via a wonderful Tunisian save. A relentlessly committed defender, as shown in the match. Leading from the back and selflessly protecting his team. A sure constant starter.
Harry Maguire: 7
Maguire is comfortable in possession and going forward. Showing that immensely in the first-half. He easily fitted in with his two partners. Rarely was the Leicester man beaten in the air.
However, on 25 minutes he got too confident and lost the ball in a dangerous area. We do see this occasionally with the Foxes. While more often than not he makes a positive influence.
Those turnovers happened twice more before half-time. To his credit he did not let this affect his confidence. Subsequently, he made many good passes in the opposition half. His headed assist won the game. Which shows his additional value.
