Liverpool have finally moved on from the AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson.

Liverpool are desperately looking at reinforcements for the goalkeeper position. Perhaps it is harsh on Loris Karius, but given his Champions League final performance, it’s hard to stick up for him.

They were in the race to sign Alisson from AS Roma, and they looked to be leading the race for quite some time. However, interest from Real Madrid increased and now it looks likely they will be the Brazilian’s next destination.

It’s good to see Liverpool didn’t take a serious knock back, though. Times have been difficult for them in recent weeks with the failed pursuit of Nabil Fekir.

They have drawn up a shortlist of potential alternatives, and Thomas Strakosha of Lazio is one of their main targets now.

According to The Mirror, Liverpool have received a huge boost for the £30m rated man. Lazio are in talks with Silvio Proto, so they will be more lenient with Liverpool’s supposed interest in Strakosha.

What will Strakosha bring to Liverpool?

Strakosha is a very tall and demanding goalkeeper. He isn’t prone to making mistakes unlike Karius and Simon Mignolet, he just likes to get the job done.

He was born in Greece, but decided to represent Albania on the international stage. Ageing at just 23 years old, he seems incredibly mature for his age, but of course, he still has a lot to learn.

He’s definitely one for the future, and he’s a man who Liverpool fans should be excited about. Granted, he’s no Alisson, but he will add a new dynamic to Jurgen Klopp’s setup. It’s as if the side is ever-expanding.

His willingness to learn is something that will get him through his time in the Premier League. The league is error prone and if you do make mistakes, you should expect to be pounced on by fans and pundits alike.

However, he has a strong mentality and he’s able to turn criticism into construction.

While it’s obviously way too early to compare, an example of this is Manchester United’s David de Gea – the Spaniard was woeful during the opening stages of his United career, and now he’s considered the world’s best.

If Liverpool do land Strakosha, they will have nearly the perfect squad. It will be a vast improvement on last season, in which they reached the Champions League final and finished in the top four of the Premier League.
