Real Madrid set to raid another Liverpool transfer target
By Kian Long
Real Madrid aren’t giving Liverpool any rest in this transfer window.
Even with the World Cup in full swing, transfer news has been coming in by the dozen. With Real Madrid reportedly close to the deal of Alisson of AS Roma, they are set to pounce on another of Liverpool’s shortcomings.
The Merseyside club has secured the deals of Fabinho and Naby Keita, but the rest of their transfer business has been frustrating. They were denied the opportunity to sign Nabil Fekir from Lyon, and Alisson from AS Roma.
However, Nabil Fekir could still get his move away from Lyon. A number of clubs are reportedly interested, but none bigger than Real Madrid.
The news has arisen from the Mirror. They have reported that Jean-Michael Aulas, president of Lyon, has been in talks with a number of clubs, but he only mentioned Real Madrid.
What does Nabil Fekir bring?
This is always a hard question to answer when it comes to Fekir. He is very versatile, which of course is a good asset to have.
The Frenchman has been Lyon’s main creative outlet. He has the ability to pick out the runs of attackers with a pinpoint pass.
This will be good for the likes of Gareth Bale and Marcos Asensio, who love to run in behind. However, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema won’t be starved of opportunities either. While they’re not known for making runs, Fekir is able to pick them out in the box.

Wake up call for Liverpool?
It would be unfair to claim Fekir ‘snubbed’ Liverpool in any way. In fact, it appeared to me like it was the opposite situation.
Rumors from around the Liverpool camp claimed it was his medical which caused concern. You can argue this either way, but I think it was a good idea from Liverpool to not pursue him further.
However, it’s important to discuss the other side. If Real Madrid have no concerns, then why should Liverpool act high and mighty?
There must have been something else rather than just his medical, because it hasn’t swayed Madrid’s interest.
There are alternatives for Liverpool to consider, so losing out on Fekir isn’t the end of the world. But perhaps they could take some lessons moving forward – one of them being that no player is perfect.
