The standard at this tournament has decreased

First of all, I will refer you to my article entitled ‘World Cup 2018: Rise of the underdogs.‘ Clearly there have been many surprises and upsets: I highlight Argentina drawing with Iceland and Germany‘s failure as examples.

Although technically, the standard had not dropped from the significant teams with so many star players. Rather, the ‘underdogs’ raised their game. England seemingly need to smash out of the periphery. This should not be the case. Talent, investment and rich history should suffice.

Because the greats are not performing quite as well as usual, absurdly the favourable tie may be a more notable opponent. A shock could be supplied by a team like the combative and fast Senegalese.

Even Japan could cause an upset. Colombia beating St. George‘s side would not even be a surprise to many. Naturally the English would all choose Japan over Brazil, but who can predict any outcomes at this tournament?

Prediction for the Belgium match

When the Lions inevitably lose 2-1 to the Red Devils, you did not see this article – right!? Less pessimistically, I take comfort from South Korea’s Son Heung-min. He is now supporting England, as his tournament ended by eliminating Germany. If you start to hear more of that from eliminated Premier League top players – then be aware – the Three Lions may surprise.
