Attack
Marcus Rashford: 7.5
Marcus Rashford felt slightly rushed as proceedings began. Although his work ethic is increasing. The runs he makes are well conceived: giving options to his midfield support.
Manchester United’s forward was not involved heavily to begin with. Consequently showing intuition by moving deeper to receive possession. When closing down, he is consistently committed along with rapid.
Supplying good control of the ball and exhibiting his wonderful skill. Attempted to link with his strike partner. Rashford is important for Pickford’s long high passes, he is tall and not afraid to win or hold the aerial ball.
While he did not take advantage of two attempted assists from Vardy. Being clinical at this level is vital. Made a serious claim to take close free-kicks, if fielded.
Jamie Vardy: 8
Jamie Vardy was bright and active from minute one. Looked to capitalise on the awkwardness of Thomas Vermaelen, instantly. The Leicester man is a constant worry and threat to defenders.
When stretching his legs, he is selflessly aware of teammates, if the scoring opportunity evades him. Was unlucky not to have a clear sight of goal for his participation.
Pressuring defenders is an underestimated value of an attacker; the Fox is an expert in this. Supplied Rashford with a great pass twice, nearly creating a goal. If he had an enticing opportunity at goal, he was sharp enough to bang one in.
Substitutes
Harry Maguire: 7
Harry Maguire came on at the interval. Started comfortably, defending his man well. Held his position and line effectively. Managed to showcase his raking switches at ease. Powered up the pitch with exceptional grace for a big man. When isolated as a makeshift left-back while Rose is forward, he is not comfortable. Should regain his place.
Danny Welbeck: 6.5
Danny Welbeck entered the fray with 79 minutes played. Arsenal’s backup man obviously did not have long to prove a point. Failed to convert one difficult chance, then wasted another. Full commitment as usual.

Neither side can be accused of ‘playing for the draw’; as France and Denmark were. However, today’s game constantly felt like a friendly. Almost pointless: well, not for the Belgians. Excuse the pun.
No English player quite managed to make a starting place imperative, though Rose is closest. Colombia will provide a serious test; England will pass that examination.
