Liverpool have supposedly resumed talks with Lyon over the sale of Nabil Fekir.

The biggest loss of this transfer window has to be when Liverpool failed to land Nabil Fekir. Whether it was down to medical purposes remains to be seen, but it hasn’t stopped them from going back in for the Frenchman.

The news has arisen from The Mirror. They claim that the deal almost became complete in June, with an official interview being conducted. However, Liverpool pulled out last minute.

Talks have began to progress once again, and the Merseyside club believe Fekir can become theirs after the World Cup. But here’s where it all gets complicated…

They will face heavy competition in Manchester United, according to Express. This isn’t the only time the English giants have battled, however their duels usually commence on the pitch.

Who should Nabil Fekir choose?

Obviously, both Liverpool and Manchester United are huge clubs. No matter who he chooses, Fekir will get global recognition from a huge fan-base.

However, if he is to think long-term and think what’s best for his career, there are three things which he should first consider:

  1. Playing time – Who will give him the most minutes on the pitch?
  2. Manager – Which manager will know how to get the best from him?
  3. Teammates – Which side has the best players to partner him?

First off, let’s take a look at playing time. This can tie into the talent he has around him, especially in an attacking position.

With that said, United will be able to guarantee him the most minutes, which is a compliment to Liverpool. It’s not easy to break the trident of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. So, if playing time is his main concern, United is the way to go.

Manager-wise, I think this goes without saying. Only the strongest characters can play under Jose Mourinho, whereas Jurgen Klopp’s man-management has proven to be immense. Concerned about who you’ll play under, Nabil? Klopp won’t let you down.

Now, the teammates is a tricky one. I personally believe United has the better players, but Liverpool’s squad is able to gel naturally. Team chemistry is important, and if Fekir wants to enjoy his time, Liverpool is the best option.

What does Nabil Fekir bring to a side?

His versatility sticks out. Although there is clear strengths and weaknesses to his game, he has the ability to be an all-round player.

However, it’s his creative prowess which he chooses to exploit. He has been Lyon’s main creative outlet this season, often playing pinpoint through balls to match the menacing runs of attackers.

I have said it before and I’ll say it again, this will benefit Roberto Firmino more than anyone else. The Brazilian has a lot of onus to drop deep and act as the anchor between midfield and attack, this is something Fekir can provide.

However, he could also bring out the best in Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian strives off service, something which he lacked at Everton.
