Cristiano Ronaldo recently signed a huge contract with Juventus, but how can Liverpool sneak into the scenario?
Liverpool are having a transfer window mixed with emotions. From the highs of signing Naby Keita and Fabinho to the lows of missing out on Nabil Fekir and Alisson. It’s fair to say, it would make a tough analysis.
However, things look to be stepping up again, as they seem to be pursuing the cheap Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City.
With Cristiano Ronaldo joining Juventus, the Old Lady has some financial fair play issues to deal with. This could lead to them selling some players in order to make up for the blockbuster deal.
Liverpool could sign Paulo Dybala
According to Metro, Liverpool are willing to offer Juventus £80m for the services of Paulo Dybala.
This is a smart move on Liverpool’s behalf, as it will only bolster what is an already fiery front three. Also, Juventus may be more inclined to sell the starlet now they have secured Ronaldo.
Dybala could replace Roberto Firmino in the starting eleven should he work hard in training. He offers a different dynamic to Firmino’s anchor-type play.
Dybala is the much better finisher of the two, and if Liverpool are looking for longevity, then Dybala would absolutely get the nod.
Would it be a good move for Dybala?
It’s always easy to look at transfers from the club’s point-of-view, but how about the player’s?
This move would not benefit Dybala, in my opinion. As weird as that is to hear, considering he will be in competition with one of the greatest of all times should he stay at Juve.
He will be playing with Ronaldo towards the closing stages of his career, meaning the Portuguese will be more unselfish and willing to hand out tips on the game.
And who better to learn from? Either way, Dybala will be in competition with strong players. But if he is to flip that round and look at the two strikers as mentors – Who would be better to learn from, Cristiano Ronaldo or Roberto Firmino? It’s an easy choice for me.
This would then open the possibility of Gonzalo Higuain leaving the club, which I find is the best solution for all parties. He could join Chelsea, as reports linked him to the London club. There, he will have the opportunity to get consistent game time, as he too nears the end of his career.
