Chelsea should reject this swap deal involving Andre Gomes
By Kian Long
FC Barcelona have supposedly contacted Chelsea to discuss a player-plus-cash deal for N’Golo Kante involving Andre Gomes.
Chelsea recently announced the signing of Maurizio Sarri, amid the departure of fellow Italian boss Antonio Conte. This would suggest a serious reshuffle is imminent at Chelsea.
However, there are also some players which Sarri must work hard to keep. Eden Hazard is the main name which is thrown around, but N’Golo Kante is equally as important.
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea will need to a little bit extra than they would have liked in order to keep Kante at the club. They report FC Barcelona have offered Andre Gomes plush cash for Kante.
Here’s why Chelsea must laugh it off.
The audacity from Barcelona… It’s laughable!
There’s no way Chelsea will let go of Kante, surely? Kante is one of the most influential players in the world, and his importance to a side goes without saying.
There’s a reason why he won two consecutive Premier League titles with two different clubs… Both of which had finished below the top six in the previous season.
He also helped Chelsea to the FA Cup trophy this season at the expense of Manchester United in the final. He will play in the World Cup final today – you get the picture.
Here’s what makes N’Golo Kante so special.
There’s more to Kante than his infectious smile. He is quite the player, and it takes a lot for a player of his role to get the credit he has rightly deserved.
The term ‘destroyer’ is often perceived as negative, but somebody needs to do the job. Covering the back-line and ensuring the opposition doesn’t find a way is always important, and Kante is one of the best at this.
He is a clean player and often wins the ball back through clever standing tackles, before either laying off the ball to an attacker or bringing the ball forward himself.
Kante isn’t the flashy type of player, but this makes him a real fan favorite. He takes pleasure out of seeing his team flourish courtesy of his fine work off the ball.
He will come up against Luka Modric in the World Cup final, one of the battles which we can’t wait to witness. It’s a real test for him, and it’ll give Maurizio Sarri an insight into what he can expect from his new midfielder.
