This may just test Chelsea’s resolve…
Chelsea are looking forward to their first season under new manager, Maurizio Sarri. In order to achieve great things, it’s important the Londoners keep hold of their star players.
Their biggest star, without a doubt, is Eden Hazard. The Belgian is in high demand, particularly in Spain, after his impressive World Cup campaign.
Real Madrid have been sniffing around his situation, given the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. But now, the Blues will need to fend off interest from fellow super club FC Barcelona.
According to Metro, Barcelona are ready to test the waters by offering Ousmane Dembele in return for the talented Eden Hazard.
It remains to be seen whether or not cash will be involved, but this would certainly give Chelsea more reason to accept the deal.
Mixed feelings for Chelsea.
Chelsea must be wondering what to think with this rumored deal. Why would Barcelona be willing to part ways with one of Europe’s most promising prospects? There must be a reason.
Dembele had the mixed start to life in Spain. When he played, he sometimes looked like he couldn’t cope with the big crowd, but on other occasions he looked to excel.

His footwork is what makes him special. Much like Eden Hazard, the Frenchman prides himself on his flair-driven approach and creative input. However, as we’ve seen, he can also be a lethal finisher when called upon.
Ageing at just 21 years old, he’s definitely one for the future. I wouldn’t put him up there with Kylian Mbappe, but that doesn’t take away from Dembele’s immense potential.
Should Dembele consider the move?
As we’ve seen, moving to the Premier League can either make or destroy careers. The likes of Radamel Falcao and Angel Di Maria, both of which excelled in other leagues, failed in the Premier League.
However, the likes of Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne have all proven their point that you can reach the top. Dembele certainly has what it takes.
Under the right coaching, which he certainly has in Sarri, he can strive to achieve greatness, surrounded by some familiar players.
N’Golo Kante, Dembele’s international colleague, will certainly help him settle into life at Stamford Bridge. Amid the excitement of the new season, the Chelsea faithful will have words of support for their new signing should it happen.
