This would warrant the £43.7m fee Liverpool paid for Fabinho.

Liverpool are looking to keep up with their Premier League rivals, and their transfer business would suggest they can do that.

They have already bought Naby Keita, Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson. The Brazilian shot stopper being announced just yesterday.

Two Brazilian editions to a frightening Liverpool side, but one of them isn’t resting on what his side already has.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Fabinho will try to convince his former teammate Kylian Mbappe to join Liverpool.

Is it too good to be true?

Of course. I don’t see any way Mbappe will be convinced to leave Paris Saint-Germain, particularly after winning the World Cup for France.

Although, it still shows good spirit from Fabinho. I’m not going to be slating Liverpool for not being able to sign Mbappe, because let’s face it, nobody can.

It just goes to show how many connections Fabinho truly does have. From working in France, and playing for Brazil on the big stage, he’s worked with countless stars over the years.

This will be a valuable asset to Liverpool, because Fabinho will have learnt a lot from his time working with these talents. If they do sign Mbappe of course, then nobody can question how valuable the asset is – but all in due time, obviously.

The answer is still in France.

What Liverpool do need is a play-maker. Somebody who can fill the boots of – dare I mention his name – Philippe Coutinho.

Yes, the Reds did look a lot better without him, but that will never last. Or maybe it will, but who would they be to turn down a little creativity?

More from Liverpool FC

With Keita providing a box-to-box threat and Fabinho giving both defensive cover and short passes, there leaves a space for creativity. And who better than Nabil Fekir?

Liverpool were linked with the Frenchman, and came so close to signing him. It remains to be seen whether the Reds will go back in for him, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they did.

He is everything which Liverpool need. With Fekir, the creative onus will be taken away from Roberto Firmino, and Jurgen Klopp will finally achieve a balanced midfield.

They’ll need to be quick about it, though. The transfer window doesn’t last forever, and I assume Lyon will have stern words for the Liverpool officials after the mess which happened last time out.

What’s a likely addition you would like to see Liverpool make before the window closes?
