Real Madrid step up their pursuit of Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard
By Kian Long
Los Blancos will open their bidding in emphatic fashion. But will it be enough?
Real Madrid have shown a long-term interest in Eden Hazard. The Belgian has put in consistently good performances over the years for Chelsea, so it’s not hard to see why.
Madrid are looking to build for the future without Cristiano Ronaldo, after the superstar parted ways to join Juventus. There are a lot of alternatives on the market, but Hazard may be the best bet.
According to Evening Standard, Los Blancos will offer the Chelsea officials £112m, but the Blues are reluctant to sell. The outlet report that Chelsea will accept no less than £200m.

Good move from Chelsea.
Chelsea are in a strong negotiating stance. Hazard’s contract isn’t set to run out anytime soon, so it’s good to see they are standing firm on their stance.
Eden Hazard is an exceptional player, one which Chelsea would struggle to replace. He is often the best player on the pitch wearing blue, and long may it continue.
Under Maurizio Sarri, the Belgian could show a whole other level of class. The Italian boss has clearly indicated he wants Hazard to be influential in his system, which will fill him with confidence I’m sure.
Should Real Madrid pay the fee?
£200m is undeniably a staggering fee to pay for any player, but Hazard is worth it.
If Madrid wish to continue the legacy which Ronaldo left, then Hazard is the closest player available on the market.
Ageing at 27 years old, there’s never been a better time to sign him. He is only going to continue to prosper, so missing out on him could lead to plenty of regret from Madrid.
The quality he will bring will soon warrant the £200m fee, should Los Blancos wish to pay. They certainly have the funds available, but the decision remains in the hands of the board.
If Madrid can get their way, which they usually do, they may be able to lower the price slightly. I mean, I’m sure Roman Abramovich would prefer to not sell to a league rival.
