Arsenal haven’t given up on their fruitful transfer window just yet.

The Gunners have had a very successful transfer window this time round. The first of the Unai Emery era, and Arsenal have made five excellent appointments. These certainly point in positive directions for the fans.

An overhaul of signings rarely happens, particularly at the Emirates Stadium. However, it was certainly needed this time round.

According to Express, Arsenal are not yet done. The outlet report that Gunners officials are in advanced talks with Borussia Monchengladbach over the signing of the experienced Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

Farewell, Petr and David.

For me, this indicates it’s time to bid farewell to both Petr Cech and David Ospina.

The latter has been linked with moves to Boca Juniors and the Turkish league for many months now, with his time in London looking to expire sooner rather than later.

Petr Cech has only recently been linked with moves away. Originally, Chelsea were interested in re-signing him, but now Roma could be in the mix.

It’s an interesting saga for sure. But if Unai Emery to sign Yann Sommer, then both of them will need to leave. Neither Cech nor Ospina should be reserve goalkeepers, as they deserve a chance to flourish elsewhere during the closing stages of their careers.

Good business by Arsenal?

I think so, yes.

It’s a very smart transfer on Arsenal’s behalf. Sommer ages at 29 years old, so he is in prime condition for a goalkeeper.

This will help Stephan Lichtsteiner to integrate into the Arsenal side, with the two working together on international duty. They have both played alongside Granit Xhaka too, let’s not forget.

I’m sure we can all remember when Xhaka scored a last minute header in the Gladbach derby, then ran the length of the pitch to hug Sommer. Right?

Arsenal fans will be hoping that this chemistry will enable Xhaka to flourish more, adding a real Swiss core to the way the Gunners set about their tactics.
