2. Lucas is legit

Llorente wasn’t the only Tottenham player to score two goals against Roma. Unlike the gangly striker, both of Lucas’ strikes were the result of great skill from the pacy Brazilian. This could portend big things for Lucas in England.

The 25-year-old attacker struggled to make an impact at Tottenham after coming over from PSG in the middle of last season. No one should be surprised that he looks a lot more comfortable after spending some quality time with Pochettino. He certainly seems to have a much better grasp of what’s required at Spurs.

His offensive exploits were obvious for everyone to see. He showed excellent pace and was able to dribble in and out of the Roma defence on multiple occasions. If he can replicate that same sort of form against Premier League opposition in the regular season he’ll be impossible to keep out of the starting XI.

Perhaps more importantly for Pochettino, Lucas showed a real motor on the defensive end of the pitch. He wasn’t perfect, but he made a concerted effort to press the opposition and track back when it was required. Pochettino made no secret of Lucas’ need to improve those skills last season. It looks like he’s taken the manager’s words to heart.
