The Blues have been ambitious in their valuation of the Spaniard with AC Milan interested in his signature.
Alvaro Morata’s first season in the Premier League was a disappointment based on the pre-season expectations. He started off strongly for Chelsea with six goals in six games, but his form started to go downhill after a while.
By the end of the season, he was really struggling mentally and every miss seemed to have an effect on him.
He also lost his place in the team to January signing Olivier Giroud and finished the league season with 11 goals.
He is a talented individual, especially as an aerial threat, but Chelsea appears to have been a poor move for his career so far.
The main issue is his mentality because he needs to change that if he wants to become a top striker or else he will never be able to be consistent; it will always be periods of form caused by a boost in confidence.

According to Sky in Italy, the Blues told AC Milan in initial negotiations that they will have to pay £62 million for the striker. This is likely to put off Milan who are unable to spend large amounts. They could sell Leonardo Bonucci and Andre Silva to raise funds, but that would be a huge risk.
Milan recently had their ban from European competitions lifted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). This had been put in place by UEFA due to them breaking Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.
Therefore, they can’t afford to take any financial risks; this is emphasised by their business so far because they have signed Jose Reina, Ivan Strinic and Alen Halilovic on free transfers so far.
Silva, Patrick Cutrone and Nikola Kalinic is a strong pool of strikers to choose from, so they don’t need another expensive addition. However, Chelsea do appear willing to sell Morata this summer.
They have a good mixture of strikers for Maurizio Sarri to choose from in Giroud, Michy Batshuayi and Tammy Abraham. The big question is: who is willing to pay £62 million for Morata?
Chelsea are highly unlikely to sell to a Premier League rival. That leaves Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, PSG and Bayern as the only teams that can realistically afford that outlay.
However, Los Blancos are the only team that desperately need a new striker. They are unlikely to bring in their former striker for that amount, though.
Therefore, he’s likely to stay at Chelsea this summer unless they lower their valuation significantly to attract suitors.
