2. The fan base is united in support for the club

Can’t we all just get along? That’s pretty much been the question surrounding the Arsenal fan base over the past few years.

Whether it was moaning about ArsenalFan TV, calling for Wenger and Stan Kroenke to be fired or just fighting each other in the stands, Arsenal supporters were certainly divided last season.

The fans asked for change and that is exactly what they got with the appointment of Emery. There’s been nothing but positive reports coming out of pre-season training and the squad appears to be united.

Ozil’s recent retirement from the German national team due to accusations of racism has further galvanized fan support. Ozil has been praised for his stance and has received the backing of the club as well as the Gooner faithful.

Emery is aware of recent fan divisions and how toxic it had become. In a recent interview, he addressed the issue of uniting the fan base. “First, all the supporters love Arsenal and Arsenal love the supporters. We need to work together and the first way to do that is by finding the performance. And then, through this performance, finding one clear identity.”

The new manager has continually stated that he wants to see his players bring energy to the pitch. He will be expecting a maximum effort from all, including those in the stands.

“My success is all the fans, all the supporters, wanting to come to the Emirates to stay with the team to improve together and to win together.”

Every sports team benefits from fan support. Arsenal could certainly use the presence of its 12th man to motivate and inspire its players.
