The offseason is always a tough time for football fans, but it also is a chance to see what each club has in terms of upcoming talent. For Chelsea, the future is looking very bright.

Preseason tournaments offer the manager a chance to experiment a bit and observe his youth players in action. During the recent friendlies for Chelsea in the International Champions Cup, two names in particular have stood out.

Ethan Ampadu and Callum Hudson-Odoi have caught Sarri’s eye, with both players logging significant minutes during preseason. The two 17 year olds have looked eager to impress every minute they get, with Hudson-Odoi in particular really snatching headlines.

Hudson-Odoi even started in Chelsea’s most recent competitive match against Manchester City in the Community Shield. This shows that Sarri will at least be giving him some minutes moving forward, even if he is not a regular starter.

Ampadu has also been catching the eye of a lot of Chelsea supporters. He broke into the first team last season, playing in a few FA Cup matches as well as a Premier League match.

Chelsea also have 20 year old attacker Tammy Abraham in their ranks. The youngster had a phenomenal year two seasons ago on loan with Bristol City, but ended up with just five goals last season on loan at Swansea.

The forward role is already packed with top tier talent, so Abraham could see more use out of another loan deal. This would get him more game time overall and would be beneficial to his growth.

If Abraham does stay, though, Chelsea will be looking at three very solid youth players that will get serious minutes in cup matches. With Sarri more than willing to give them a chance, the Chelsea youth players are in for an exciting season.
