4. Arsenal vs. Manchester City

For the first time in 22 years it won’t be Arsene Wenger sitting in the Arsenal dugout. The man to replace him is former Paris Saint Germain boss Unai Emery.

Apart from the manager a host of new faces will be on show for the home side such as Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno, Lucas Torreira, and Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

The Gunners have racked up some impressive pre-season victories over the likes of PSG, Chelsea, and Lazio; but the Emery revolution couldn’t get off to a much tougher start as they host Pep’s Manchester City.

City smashed a plethora of Premier League records last season but the jury is out on whether its possible to keep up such a ferocious  pace. All the signs were certainly resoundingly positive on Sunday.

Pep would have been delighted with the performances of Phil Foden, and Riyad Mahrez; but also has the luxury of reintroducing more established stars such as Kevin De Bruyne at the weekend.

Fans will have to wait until Sunday afternoon for this one but it has all the makings of one for the ages.

5. Wolves are back in the Premier League

Wolves are one of the most intriguing sides to ever make the step up to the Premier League. With the help of super agent Jorge Mendes they managed to attract an array of talent to Molineux despite the club’s Championship status.

The biggest coup of all was perhaps manager Nuno Santo who has been a Mendes client since his playing days back ’96.

Although this will only be his sixth season in management Nuno already boasts an impressive CV having led Rio Ave and Valenica to the Europa League and Champions League qualification respectively.

Nuno had Wolves playing some attractive football last season with Ruben Neves the most eye-catching. The metronomic midfielder boasts a velcro touch and pinpoint long-range passing ability and will be vital to his side’s success.

Wolves have prepared for life in the big league with some astute signings including Joao Moutinho who will likely form a potentially mouth-watering partnership with Neves in the pivot.

After a six year absence it certainly looks like England’s dominant force of the 50s are back to stay. Their first outing is a tasty affair against Everton on Saturday evening which will act a good indicator of how far they can expect to go this season.
