Tottenham may not have added any players this summer, but Mauricio Pochettino’s squad still is good enough to win the Premier League this season.

At the moment, Tottenham fans are obsessed with the club’s lack of activity in the transfer market. Thankfully, on Thursday, attention should start to shift to actual football. When it does, Spurs fans will again realize that they have quite a strong squad.

In fact, the squad has enough talent to win the Premier League this season. That doesn’t mean Spurs are the favourites to overtake Manchester City, but they have more than a puncher’s chance. During most seasons in the club’s history, that would be viewed as a positive statement.

In this piece, we delve into five reason why Tottenham could break their Premier League drought. First, we look at the potential benefits of a quiet summer transfer window.

5. Continuity

There’s something to be said for giving a group of players the chance to grow up together. If Tottenham don’t sign a single player this summer, Mauricio Pochettino and company will need to rely on continuity to serve as an advantage over clubs with more talented individuals.

In some ways, that fits Pochettino’s ethos perfectly. He accepted the job at Tottenham with the knowledge that the club would never outspend the likes of Manchester United, City or Liverpool. The clever Argentine knows he must work smarter at Spurs to win it all.

That’s not to say he wouldn’t welcome a big-name signing or two to roll in just before the transfer window slams shut, but he absolutely won’t use the lack of purchases as an excuse. Pochettino will demand that his squad mount a serious challenge on the title no matter what happens in the final hours of the transfer window. The fact that his players won’t need to learn each other’s tendencies on the pitch should give him a big advantage over clubs with massive turnover.
