Real Madrid always gets a lot of flack for “buying” their players, especially their stars, instead of developing them. While data proves this is not the case, there are still a lot of players Real are developing most don’t know about.

Raúl de Tomás – 23 Years Old

De Tomás has been showing real promise as of late. Not a player that will ever take the helm as the lead striker for a side like Real Madrid, or play 30 matches a season, but he is definitely showing life.

Raúl netted 24 goals in 32 appearances for Rayo Vallecano in Spain’s 2nd division last season. While the competition is lesser, 24 goals is still an impressive tally for anyone.

De Tomás won’t take the ball up the pitch to build up play, he isn’t going to create many chances with the ball at his feet or set his teammates up, but he has an eye for goal that seems to get better every year. At just 23 years of age, he has a good chance to eventually see some decent time in the first team.

Sergio Reguilón – 21 Years Old

More from Real Madrid

Reguilón is a name almost no one knew until he had an absolutely magnificent performance in the ICC against Manchester United. The pacey Spaniard moved up and down the pitch with ease and showed good poise with the ball at his feet. Not a world beater but he has definitely shown he can play this preseason.

He has been a Real Madrid player his whole life and the club has been very patient with him and has let him progressed. With Theo Hernandez likely going out on loan, will that make room for a Sergio call up and have him possibly get some deserved game time?

Marcos Llorente – 23 Years Old

Llorente is probably the most known player on this list. He joined the club again after a loan stint with Alaves which saw him put in a season in which he was arguably the best CDM in the La Liga that season.

Putting up numbers rivaling world class players Casemiro and Sergio Busquets. He didn’t receive much play last season, but with Lopetegui more prone to using a defender as a cog in the midfield rather than roaming, he could see more fixtures. Like Sergio and De Tomas, Marcos has also had a solid preseason.

Federico Valverde – 20 Years Old

Valverde had a really up and down season last year. He was here and there when he played at Deportivo, but he also suffered an injury that made him sit out most of the season. So far this preseason he appears to be getting his confidence back.

At just 20, he has so much time to grow and improve. Valverde has performed well in the pre-season so far, but Real Madrid’s midfield is still the best in the world, so if he stays with them this season he will hardly play. I would keep on eye out to see if he is loaned out and to who.

Next. Real Madrid sign Thibaut Courtois. dark

Besides these for, Real Madrid still has players like Dani Ceballos, Jesus Vallejo, Borja Mayoral, Mateo Kovacic and of course Vinicius Junior developing and coming through the ranks. So while a few of Los Blancos star players are getting up in age, they have a fair share of rising talents too.
