3. Alexis Sanchez was woeful

This is where my inner Arsenal fan comes out, no I’m just kidding. I think we can all agree that this wasn’t the Chilean’s best performance. Everything he touched just seemed to fail, and he looked incredibly sloppy.

Perhaps he’s just tired from all the heavy emphasis on him during pre-season, as a number of his attacking colleagues were away for the World Cup.

More from Manchester United

Chile’s inability to qualify for the World Cup was either going to be a blessing or a curse for Alexis’ season, but there’s still time to turn things around. He’ll need to improve on last night though, that’s a given.

There was times where he received the ball in the final third and an attacker was making a positive run, but his inability to pick out the pass let him and his manager down.

Losing possession is never a good thing for fans to endure, so I can only imagine how it must be for the players. In truth, the scoreline could have been a lot better if Alexis wasn’t on the pitch.

His runs were impressive, but it means nothing when you mess up that badly in other departments.

You may disagree with me though, and I would love it if you did. It’s always great to achieve balance in an argument. Do you think I’m being too harsh on Alexis? Let me know in the comments section below! Let’s debate.
