Zlatan Ibrahimovic is never one to shy away from his opinions, but he has given his full support to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Now playing in Major League Soccer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still a prevalent figure in the European scene. And rightly so, his ego-driven character is hard to forget, particularly for the younger generation of fans.

He’s been tearing it apart in the states, bringing a lot more attention to the American game in the process. According to WhoScored, the Los Angeles Galaxy striker has scored 14 goals and picked up four assists in 17 MLS appearances. Not bad for a silver fox!

Respect for Ronaldo.

More from Serie A

Speaking with Dan Patrick, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was asked about his thoughts on Ronaldo moving to Serie A giants Juventus.

Naturally, we all expected a witty response, but having played for Juventus in the past, the striker was quick to remind us all how big the club was, and how good it feels to play in Italy.

Italian soccer was a real powerhouse back when Zlatan played in Serie A. He spent a large portion of his career in Italy, playing with Juventus, Inter and AC Milan. His time here was fruitful, which shows why he has great respect for the league.

He said that the move is good for Italy, because a huge name like Ronaldo will bring worldwide support to the league. I’m with him on this, it will remind the world why we shouldn’t sleep on Serie A.

Relating to this point, ESPN recently gained television rights to Serie A matches. What this means is that American soccer fans will be able to gain knowledge of the league, while being able to watch Cristiano Ronaldo every week, which is never a bad thing.

Will we see a new side to Cristiano Ronaldo?

Players who play across different leagues can often alter their styles, while many stick to their guns. At Real Madrid, Ronaldo adapted to more of a poacher’s role than he showed at Manchester United.

This could still be the case at Juventus, but I would assume the play will run through him a lot more. He thrives when he receives the ball a lot, but it will be much more difficult to break down the rigid Italian defenses, so we’re in for a real treat.

He will act as a mentor to the likes of Paulo Dybala, something which he has always done naturally, but he’s never had an emphasis on this. That said, it will be interesting to see how the partnership fares.
